It just seems mindless for CYS and DPW to destroy records of child abuse investigations when the police do not destroy their records.

The authorities may have responded differently in 1998 if they had the record of the 1984 child abuse allegation against Sandusky. Ditto for the 2008 allegation if they had records of 1984 and 1998 child abuse allegations.Tim Bertonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06534135581401662154noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2260510730184507282.post-29783384741086869462014-02-04T19:55:46.686-05:002014-02-04T19:55:46.686-05:00Thanks Jeffrey. Did not CYS do this and more so each and every time JS wanted to be a Foster parent? How about when JS adopted kids? I never met JS, but they said he was a little off, then how come no one at CYS picked up on this. Even more, what was Second Mile doing???

No one was suppose to breathe a word of this to Joe, but let's say they gave him a concise detail report that JS was investigated for unacceptable behavior with a minor and after an intensive investigation by the police, the DA's office and CYS there were no charges. I can see Joe writing that as part of his retirement JS is not to bring children on campus (and being smart Joe said for insurance reasons). Again this does not perjure Joe, because he did not know the facts of the investigation, but heard rumors. The only person at fault here is Erickson who overruled Joe and let JS bring kids to the campus. The only question is that if Joe had no bosses, then how was Erickson able to overrule him. Oh, Joe did have a boss.Toddhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08603057200824428464noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2260510730184507282.post-50658481501003079392014-02-04T14:50:40.134-05:002014-02-04T14:50:40.134-05:00Eileen, have you prepared your Pulitzer acceptance...Eileen, have you prepared your Pulitzer acceptance speech yet?? Thank you for another outstanding post...Ms. Morgan,
Thank you for another outstanding post. The citizens of PA should be outraged. Is the problem a lack of training in our agencies or a political decision to hide the truth? Of the three abuses you outlined, reporting sexual abuse is a good issue to stimulate voters.

"Follow the Money" However, in the case of Sandusky, political contributions from supporters of a popular charity protected Sandusky until after the gubernatorial election of 2010. The Sandusky investigations started during the Ridge Administration. Corbett was the acting AG. He developed contacts among wealthy donors. Years later, Corbett used The Second Mile campaign fundraising network as he was investigating Sandusky.

The diversion of the Sandusky case to PSU was to provide cover for Corbett's campaign finance operation with friends of The Second Mile. The diversion also distanced himself from the 1990's investigation and protected the involvement of Ridge Administration.
