"PS4RS is gratified that Keith Olbermann was suspended after his atrocious comments attacking the selfless efforts of Penn State students participating in THON.
Once again, when Penn State has been attacked, Old Main has remained silent while students, alumni and other members of the community have risen to its defense. However, it's important to remember that Olbermann's negative perception of the Penn State community is a direct result of the horrific things that Louis Freeh said about us. Our community will continue to suffer these kinds of attacks until this report is finally thrown on the scrap heap of history where it belongs.
It is in the university's interest to publicly release all of the Freeh-related materials that are being sought by the Paterno et al plaintiffs so that the truth of its creation – the collusion between certain trustees with an agenda, the Freeh Group, and the NCAA – becomes known to all. Hiding these materials serves only the interests of those involved in the report's drafting.
We ask the university to publicly release all materials so the public can judge the veracity of the report for itself. The remaining November 2011 trustees have an irresolvable conflict of interest with the university and must resign.”

ReplyDeleteRay, you will find this article about Freeh's behavior in an unrelated matter to be very interesting, in that it points to similarly shoddy methodology on his part: http://louisianarecord.com/news/266730-defamation-case-brought-against-louis-freeh-over-deepwater-horizon-fraud-corruption-allegations
Pres Barron has a rare opportunity to stop criminal, corrupt, morally repugnant, brazen fraud. And to do it in the name of Penn State University.
ReplyDeleteLouis Freeh must be stopped. Louis Freeh will be stopped.
So on whose watch? Who will lead the one enormous concerted effort to finally stop this one man?
I vote for this team: PA Gov Wolf, PSU former Pres Spanier, PSU Pres Barron, and Sue Paterno.
Today's news reveals yet another legal action against Louis Freeh:

Perhaps Gov Wolf et al. could lead a class-action suit against Louis Freeh. Even MSM would likely glance at that!
Gov. Wolf's best bet to change the situation at Penn State is to appoint new trustees who won't side with the 11-9-11 trustees.
DeleteCorman settled too soon and for too little. He should have at least waited until after Freeh and the others who worked on the Freeh Report were deposed.
Becky and Jack,
DeleteIt is long past time that others start questioning Freeh's suspect investigation methods and evidence "gathering" techniques.
Unfortunately, there has been no news "splash" about the latest lawsuit. Only a few Louisiana papers and the CDT appeared to have picked it up.
The media is missing another opportunity for a big story. You have to wonder if Freeh and others have that much influence that the media won't go after them.
Tim,
DeleteAt least we got to see Omar "selective memory" McNeill's deposition, but overall I agree that Corman spiked the ball on the one yard line.

Tony Mah comments on Freeh's efforts to avoid discovery... literally!
ReplyDelete'I really don't see how "work product doctrine" can apply with regard to any communications involving creation of the Freeh Report. Work product applies to preparing a case for trial. Clearly the Freeh investigation and subsequent public report had nothing to do with preparing for a trial.
"Attorney client privilege", though broadly defined, could apply, as the Penn State board did hire Freeh to investigate; however, Freeh was certainly not "retained" as an attorney would be to represent anyone. This privilege also evokes a "something to hide" suspicion in this particular, very public drama, which cries out for more transparency, not less.
My personal "if it acts like a duck" suspicion is that release of the requested documents and communications will probably cause a great deal of embarrassment for certain people.'
Seems right on to me. Thank you, Tony!
